2021 Toyota 86 Concept, Rumors, Specs, Price, and Arrival

2021 Toyota 86 Concept, Rumors, Specs, Price, and Arrival. Latest reports suggest that the 2020 Toyota GT-86 will come completely new. Introduced in 2011, this sports car has been considered as one of the most dynamic small sports cars around. It was co-developed with Subaru and latest reports suggest that new versions of GT-86 and Subaru BRZ will be coming from the same plant again. This redesign will bring a lot of improvement, not just in terms of styling, but in driving dynamics.

We should accept 2020 Toyota GT-86 as the last version of the model since the future brings change in design and equipment of the car. As we know, the manufacturer will change the model for 2021, so this is actually the final option that comes in this generation.

ENGINE

2020 Toyota GT-86 runs on the same engine that is used in the current model. It is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol unit that is used on similar sports model Toyota Supra, and two optional transmissions. Those transmissions slightly change the strength of the engine. If you choose six-speed manual transmission you will get 205 horsepower of strength and 156 pound-feet of torque. In case that you are loved in automatic transmissions, it will drop the strength of the car to 200 horsepower of strength and 151 pound-feet of torque. Transmissions slightly change the fuel economy, too.

Probably the biggest novelty of this redesign will be a new engine. This model has been known for its 2.0-liter Boxer engine with around 200 horsepower. The new engine will feature bigger displacement, and also get a turbocharger. This would mean a significant power boost. The new unit from Subaru delivers around 260 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. We expect that the new model will stick to a manual transmission, while an optional automatic gearbox with paddle shifters is also a possibility. Such a great amount of power will make 2020 Toyota GT-86 super-agile, competitive even with much bigger and more powerful muscle cars like Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro.

EXTERIOR

There are no many surprises in the design of 2020 Toyota GT-86, as it comes as almost the same model as the current one. It includes massive front end, with mesh rhomboidal grille and thin and narrowed LED lights. The car should have a spoiler on the rear end, at least in higher trims, and wide 18-inch and 19-inch wheels. The sporty looks provide a long front end, sloped roof and highly positioned rear end, with wide protection on the bottom of the car. With Toyota Avalon, as a little more elegant sporty car, this is surely a great addition in sports car class.

The all-new 2020 Toyota GT-86 is about to come next year. We are about to see a lot of changes for this occasion. Once again, we will see a cooperation with Subaru. Most likely, Subaru will supply the new engine, while Toyota will take care of the chassis. This will be a complete overhaul, so expect to see a new platform, which will provide some important weight savings, as well as new suspension. On the other side, we expect to see a new version of Subaru’s amazing 4 × 4 system, famous for its superior handling and effortless cornerings. In terms of styling, expect to see a similar overall shape. Two companies should stick to proven design solutions, though each carmaker will offer its own styling. In this aspect, we expect 2020 Toyota GT-86 to have a lot in common with the upcoming Supra.

INTERIOR

There is a long list of the equipment that comes in 2020 Toyota GT-86, but not much different from the equipment that is used on the current version. On the 7.8-inch touchscreen, you will be able to control the infotainment system, supported by the smaller 4.2-inch screen. There are such things like Bluetooth and USB connection, rearview camera, blind-spot monitor, cruise control, and dual-zone climate control. Design of the cabin supports sporty look, with sculpted seats, wrapped in two-color quality fabric and red and black color of the upholstery. The rear seats are smaller, providing space for two passengers and not much leg-space.

This is still a big mystery of the 2020 Toyota GT-86. The current model keeps things pretty simple and insists on the driver-oriented cockpit. We have no doubt that the new model will come in the same manner. Still, we expect to see a big upgrade in terms of materials quality and standard equipment. This is the aspect where Toyota probably wants to have an advantage over key competitors like Mazda MX-5, Fiat 124 and similar models.

2020 TOYOTA GT-86 RELEASE DATE AND PRICE

We are still waiting for more precise details about 2020 Toyota GT-86’s release date. Most likely, this will happen in the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around $25,000. The version will be on the market in the first half of 2019, so you should not wait for a long time for it. Do not forget that the manufacturer is planning to make fully redesign for the 2021 model, with a lot of changes and new hybrid engine. It is worth waiting if you ask us if you can be patient during that time.
