2024 Ford Escape: Hybrid, Redesign, ST, PHEV, Colors. Everyone is talking about the new Escape. The completely redesigned model is here and it brings a lot of novelties. There’s a new styling, loads of new technologies and some pretty efficient engine options. All in all, it is ready to compete in one of the most important segments of the automotive industry. Still, that doesn’t mean that the second production year will be less exciting. According to the latest reports, one of the most interesting novelties for the next year will be 2024 Ford Escape ST, a performance version of the new crossover.
Other than that, we should see additions in terms of new features and similar things. The base layout is about to remain the same. We expect that this model will hit the market in a typical time of a year, sometime near the end of 2024. We don’t expect to see price changes, except for the new performance version.
Interior
On the inside, we definitely won’t see any important change for the second production year. The 2024 Ford Escape interior will look pretty much the same as the one that has been introduced recently. It is a perfect mixture of new technologies and classic design solutions. We like the fact that a lot of physical controls and analog gauges have been kept, which makes it simpler to use. Still, that doesn’t mean you will miss any of hi-tech essentials. The dashboard is highlighted by a large tablet-like touchscreen, which runs Ford’s latest SYNC3 infotainment system, famous for its excellent user experience and loads of features.
The cabin is quiet, with excellent sound insulation, and two comfortable and spacious rows of seats. The cargo volume is quite respectable, as you can count on about 34 cubic feet behind rear wheels. All in all, it would be hard to expect any notable change for the 2024 Ford Escape interior, though we may presume that the new ST model would come with a couple of exclusive features and sportier appearance.
2024 Ford Escape Engines
Under the hood, we count on two familiar engine options. Base models will carry on 1.5-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 181 horsepower and, more importantly, 190 pound-feet of torque. Even with this base engine, you can count on decent performances, as 0-60 time, in this case, goes around 8 seconds. Once again, Ford did an amazing job with suspension setup, so the new model also offers an amazing driving experience. In this aspect, the Escape is among class leaders, along with Mazda CX-5.
Things become even better if you pick an optional 2.0-liter turbo-four. With 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, you may count on quite sporty performances, as this version needs just around 6.5 seconds to reach 60.
Still, the real deal is expected with the new 2024 Ford Escape ST. This will be a hi-performance version of the crossover and the engine that comes to our minds in a 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which features a max output of 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
Two Efficient Hybrid Powertrain Options
Gasoline options, the 2024 Ford Escape will be available in two hybrid versions. In both cases, you can count on a combination of a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. The whole system features a max output of around 200 horsepower and comes in pair with a CVT gearbox. Of course, performances aren’t at the same level as in gasoline models, but you get pretty solid mpg ratings in return. The standard model comes with a 1.1-kWh battery, while a plug-in hybrid version comes with a 14.4-kWh battery and also offers 30 miles of all-electric range, as well as a couple of additional drive modes.
2024 Ford Escape Design
Given the recent redesign, we don’t expect to see anything particular in terms of the 2024 Ford Escape design. The recent overhaul has brought a lot of changes. There is a completely new design, once again based on the popular Focus hatchback. The new Escape looks notably different compared to the previous generation. It is longer, wider and higher but the interesting thing is that it doesn’t look more rugged.
Unlike most rivals that are trying to look like real SUVs, the escape features rather smooth lines and relatively sleek profile. It looks just like it drives, like a hatchback on higher suspension. We actually like that, considering that you know exactly what you’re getting, a small and dynamic crossover, perfect for the urban jungle but also very comfortable and fast enough for longer journeys.
2024 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
Given the fact that this will be the second production year, we don’t expect release date to be scheduled any earlier than usual. When it comes to the price, base models go around 26.000 dollars. On the other side, the 2024 Ford Escape Titanium will go around 38.000 dollars.
