2024 GMC Canyon: Redesign, Specs, Engines, and Price

2024 GMC Canyon: Redesign, Specs, Engines, and Price. After more than five years of production, it’s time for updates. Not only that the current model is getting older, but the competition is getting tougher. At the time the Canyon was arriving, there aren’t many mid-size trucks on the market. These days, there are some new players in the game. Of course, we are talking about models like Ford Ranger, which came after years of hiatus, and the brand-new Jeep Gladiator. The 2024 GMC Canyon is coming with a bunch of nice updates.

This will be a typical mid-cycle update. We are about to see a facelift that will bring a new front end, as well as a couple of more aesthetical changes in other parts of the truck. We are about to see a brand-new version under the AT4 name, which will be an off-road performance version. According to GM Authority, the new model will hit the market in early 2024.

2024 GMC Canyon Changes

As we already mentioned, this will be a typical mid-cycle update. Do not count on significant changes in terms of base design characteristics. Just like the mechanical twin, Chevy Colorado, the new model will come primarily with aesthetical changes. Naturally, most of them will come at the front, as you can see on the testing model, which has this part under the camouflage. Of course, we count on a new grille, bumper and probably even headlights, considering that the latest reports are suggesting that the current generation should remain in production for at least three more years.

Naturally, the new face will closely resemble the new Sierra, which has been introduced last year. In practice, this means bolder grille and a more aggressive overall look. The rest of the truck probably won’t feature notable styling changes, though we should see novelties in terms of new color options, wheels etc.

Interior We probably won’t see too many changes inside the 2024 GMC Canyon. Simply, the current model already features one of the nicest cabins in the segment. It looks quite upscale and it is full of quality materials, so there is really no need for bigger updates at the moment. Count on the same interior layout, though there won’t be a surprise if we see novelties in terms of new color schemes and similar things.

Interior

We count on novelties in terms of standard equipment, though we have to say that the current model is already pretty generous in this aspect. All models already come with tech goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, two USB ports, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth, which seems pretty generous compared to other mid-size trucks on the market.

Engines

Under the hood, there is no place for 2024 GMC Canyon changes. Count on three well-known engine choices, two gasoline and one diesel unit. Base models will carry on with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which is good for about 200 horsepower. Of course, those who are looking for something faster and more capable can go for a 3.6-liter V6, which delivers around 308 horsepower. Those who search for more economical options can pick a 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which delivers 181 horsepower and pretty impressive 369 pound-feet of torque.

With such numbers, you can count not only on impressive fuel economy but on class-leading towing capacity, which goes all-away up to 7.700 pounds. Speaking of the fuel economy, the diesel returns around 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The base four-cylinder gasoline engine is also pretty impressive in terms of fuel economy, as it returns around 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

2024 GMC Canyon AT4 One of the biggest novelties of this update will be 2024 GMC Canyon AT4. This will be a new trim level, an off-road performance version, which will replace the All-Terrain version. It will come with much more off-road goodies, including higher ground clearance, new off-road suspension, standard four-wheel-drive, skid plates, and driveline updates. Practically, we expect the same level of off-road features as in the Chevy Colorado ZR2, which means should be a decent rival to the amazing Tacoma TRD Pro.

Various mechanical upgrades, we also count on a couple of unique visual details, in terms of things like wheels, bumpers, exclusive color options and similar things. When it comes to powertrain, we presume that the V6 engine will be standard, while the turbodiesel should be in the offer.

2024 GMC Canyon Release Date and Price

As we’ve already mentioned, the 2024 GMC Canyon is expected to have a premiere already in early 2024 and sales should start soon after. We don’t expect bigger changes in terms of price, at least when it comes to base models, which currently go around 21.500 dollars.
