2024 Mazda BT-50: Redesign, Release Date, Engine, and Price. The next generation of the BT-50 is on the way. It may not be the most popular model in the company’s lineup, but it is definitely a very important model for the brand. Expectations from the new model are pretty big, especially if we consider that big changes are coming. The 2024 Mazda BT-50 will come with a completely new design. We are about to see something completely new, as Mazda won’t cooperate with Ford anymore. So far, the BT-50 was closely related to Ford Ranger but those times are gone.

Mazda has turned a new page when it comes to pickup trucks, but that doesn’t mean it will develop the new model independently. Mazda doesn’t have much capacity, so the new cooperation is on the way. This time, the new truck will be developed together with Isuzu. The new D-Max has been presented already, with a completely new design and Mazda’s mule will have a lot of things in common. We expect to see the new model by the end of the year.

2024 Mazda BT-50 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, things are pretty clear. Like the rest of the mechanics, the powertrain will also be the same as on D-Max. There is a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel. It is good for about 180 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, which makes the new D-Max one of the most capable trucks in the class. This includes towing capacity as well, which goes over 3.5 tons.

In some parts of the world, we could also see a familiar 2.5-liter unit, which was available in the previous-generation D-Max in Europe. It is also a quite efficient engine, which is good for about 165 horsepower and features a pretty solid fuel economy.

Although gasoline engine options aren’t available in D-Max, we might see some of them in 2024 Mazda BT-50, especially if we consider that there are some rumors that suggest the new model could come to North America as well.

2024 Mazda BT-50 Redesign

It’s not hard to make a conclusion that the new model will come with tons of novelties. A completely new design is on the way, though it isn’t completely clear how the new model is going to look like. Mechanically, the new model will be D-Max’s clone for sure. On the other side, it’s unclear how much of Mazda’s sheet metal we are about to see. Most reports suggest that the new model will feature a similar shape to D-Max and that the only difference will be at the front, where we expect to see Mazda’s familiar design philosophy. This seems logical, considering that the new model will be produced in the same assembly as D-Max, located in Thailand.

Interior

On the other side, things seem a little bit more intriguing when it comes to the interior. Mazda is well-known for its impressive interior quality, which is much closer to premium brands than mainstream models. We would expect a lot of Mazda’s work in the new cabin. However, keep in mind that the new D-Max has brought significant improvements in these aspects. Once known as a classic workhorse, the new D-Max now features arguably the nicest cabin in the class, which is characterized by high-quality materials, attractive design and lots of tech features.

It seems much simpler for Mazda to use the same cabin design, as it already features amazing look and quality, Of course, we could see some additional touches, but things will most likely remain the same in a huge portion. We expect to see both single and double cab layouts in the offer, as well as different bed sizes.

2024 Mazda BT-50 Release Date

At this point, it looks like the 2024 Mazda BT-50 is in the advanced stage of development and it looks like we should see it in production soon. Most likely, the new model will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year. More details about the launch date and price should be known soon.

Mazda BT-50 Might Come to North America

These days, there are also reports that suggest the new BT-50 may come to North America. Mid-size pickup trucks are becoming more popular these days. So, it seems logical to see Mazda in the game as well. Of course, certain modifications are expected for this occasion. This particularly refers to powertrain, as we presume that the North American version will come with a gasoline engine. We presume that would be a 2.5-liter unit, probably both in naturally-aspirated and turbo variants. Unfortunately, this is just a rumor now and we are still waiting to hear something from the officials.
