2024 Ram 2500 Redesign, Diesel, Release Date, and Specs

2024 Ram 2500 Redesign, Diesel, Release Date, and Specs. Lately, the heavy-duty trucks become a vehicle that can do pretty much everything. You can use it as family transport and still be happy with the remarkable towing and payload capability. The same transformation we saw recently in half-tone pickups like Ford-150 and Chevy Silverado, but this time it’s on a larger scale. Another good thing about the heavy-duty truck is that they allow you to tow as much as possible, without needing a commercial license. The new 2024 Ram 2500 has all of the mentioned characteristics. Plus, it comes freshly redesigned, with brisk lines and very comfortable interior. The new model offers three engine options, with the powerful 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins turbodiesel powertrain available.

Engine Choices

Under the hood of 2024 Ram 2500 everything stays pretty much the same. The company will continue to offer three engines for this model. Each one will be powerful enough to satisfy customers needs. The base one is a 5.7-liter drivetrain, that is able to produce 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of twist. The 6.4-liter V8 gas powertrain produces 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. With the reduced weight from the frame, improvements allow more use of cylinder deactivation.

This way, the range on a tank of a gas is increased. This fuel economy gets better ratings with the use of an 8-speed automatic on V8 engine. The transmission is controlled via a dashboard-mounted dial, like one you can find on Ram 1500. The future modification of these engines are possible, so we can expect to see even more power for the new generation of this full-size pickup truck. The ongoing model is set to tow 18,000 pounds, and we expect better results when 2024 Ram 2500 hits the streets.

2024 Ram 2500 Diesel

The third engine option for upcoming 2024 Ram 2500 will be a super-capable 6.7-liter inline-six Cummins turbodiesel powertrain. This unit can produce 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. The high-output version of this engine delivers fascinating 400 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of twist. The high-output version will be available only with the 3500 (1-ton) models.

The Cummins engine comes with the same displacement as the previous version, the powertrain is essentially all-new. New elements on this unit are compacted iron block, remodeled components, and a cast-iron cylinder head. The diesel drivetrain comes with a column-shift 6-speed automatic transmission. The foregoing manual transmission is no longer available on the new model.

2024 Ram 2500 Redesign

The exterior of 2024 Ram 2500 will suffer a few changes. The new model will keep the brand’s recognizable design language. The Ram gets sharper lines, more industrial-looking shape, and six different grille design to intensify the overall appearance. The new look is a fresh and cleaner than the previous model, and still, you can tell the difference between the Ram 2500 and the half-tone Ram. One of the major changes in the new model is its improvement of the frame.

The brand-new frame uses 98.5 percent high-strength steel, and that makes the frame lighter and stronger. The main rails are now hydroformed with six cross members, and they all provide to the vehicle’s impressively improved rigidity. The ride, handling, and noise reduction get special treatment as well, through chassis controls, use of Active-Tuned Mass Modules and new mounts. These special frame-mounted units work with countermeasures, to eliminate redundant vibrations. This way, the truck is quieter a lot and more comfortable.

Interior Changes

The upcoming 2024 Ram 2500 will get a significant improvement inside the cabin. The new model will have a completely new interior layout, very similar to the entry-level 1500 model. This should mean an opulent cabin, fully loaded with hi-quality materials and gadgets. Some interior areas are equally lavish as on premium cars, so we can say that the interior will be one of the model’s focal points. The Ram 2500 offers lots of standard equipment, even for the base model.

Speaking of which, the new Ram 2500 will probably keep the same trim hierarchy. This means that the customers will have seven trim choices. The available trims are Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and Power Wagon. Each one of these trim will come with a noticeably longer list of standard equipment than before. We expect to see three cab designs: Regular Cab, Crew Cab, and Mega Cab.
