This model was subject to numerous rumors over the last few years. Back in 2003, Baja was introduced, and it became an instant hit. That didn’t last too long as Subaru discounted this pickup three years later. The demands for a pickup truck became too high, and Baja couldn’t cope with that.
Now, 2024 Baja is coming back with great off-road capability and its unibody architecture. The design will be more aggressive than before, and Baja could share its platform with Honda Ridgeline. Of course, most of the details are not available. That includes the exact release date, price, and truck’s performance.
ENGINE RUMORS
The iconic pickup will surely deploy at least two engine options. Only one engine is certain at the moment. The upcoming 2024 Subaru Baja will deploy a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Logically, the same engine can be found in the Outback SUV and Ascent model. This reliable four-cylinder generates 250 horsepower and up to 277 lb-ft of torque.
This engine will provide great fuel efficiency. Of course, Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical AWD system will be offered, most likely as optional. The second powertrain option should become available in the high-performance version. Don’t expect any type of electrification, including the hybrid variant.
2024 BAJA WILL ARRIVE WITH UNIBODY ARCHITECTURE
In terms of exterior design, new 2024 Subaru Baja will look more aggressive. A robust pickup truck will arrive with a unibody architecture. As we said, it should be the same platform that underpins the current Honda Ridgeline. The exterior will look attractive, especially the front end. The front fascia will host new LED headlights and large grille. Subaru could borrow the grille from the Viziv concept.
Baja could get a couple of more features from the same concept. Styling is impressive, including the truck’s aerodynamics. According to the latest reports, Baja will be 15 inches longer than Viziv. The rear part will sport modern taillights, and we can expect an even more aggressive high-performance version in the near future.
OUTBACK SUV TO IMPACT BAJA’S INTERIOR
No doubt, the interior will look very unique and modern for the pickup truck segment. Unlike the exterior that borrows features from the Viziv concept, the interior will be based on the Subaru Outback SUV. Thanks to that, you can expect various crossover-like shapes and cues. Interestingly, Outback should be revamped for 2024, so it will be fun to see the new 2024 Subaru Baja.
We expect significant changes in every department, and that includes the cabin. Subaru could opt for an angular approach with plenty of upright amenities. The Japanese manufacturer will provide more than a decent interior room and plenty of standard equipment. We know nothing about trim levels.
