2024 Toyota Tundra Trademarks I-Force Max: Concept, Specs, and News. Have you heard that Toyota filed for the new trademark nameplate? It is true. The “I-Force Max” is something fresh coming from the Japanese carmaker. It didn’t take too long for enthusiasts to find out what is it all about. Guys from TFL Truck claim the new engine is on the way, while various other sources are trying to figure out what it might be. Well, at least we know it is not a diesel, and it is probably coming on the 2024 Toyota Tundra.

2024 Toyota Tundra “I-Force Max” New Engines?

The “I-Force Max” causes various theories. Toyota is not making anything official yet, as they didn’t do with the new Lexus LX 600. Already then many fans knew the drivetrain is about to be replaced. For all the current Lexus vehicles, the number in the name represents something. For LX, that is the displacement (LX 570 with the 5.7-liter engine). What is the LX600? Is it a 6.0 unit, or it delivers 600 hp? We still don’t know, but you noticed already one thing in common for two vehicles– a huge V8 engine. The new generations will also carry the same unit for sure.

2024 Toyota Tundra Specs

What can the “I-Force Max” be? Most theories are reporting about the twin-turbo V6 engine. We found them reading the news about the Land Cruiser. The luxury SUV has the same problems as the truck. The fuel economy is very poor and only a radical change can solve the situation. This time, the new engine, smaller than the predecessor, will do the thing.

What is happening with an extraordinary performance by all vehicles carrying the V8? Off-road adventurers are worried about the capability of the new turbocharged engine. Still, the truck will offer the TRD Pro package, but the diesel unit seems to be a better suit than the twin-turbo V66. Anyway, a lot of fun is happening next season and we can’t wait to hear the official announcement for all these changes.

2024 Toyota Tundra I-Force News

Toyota’s full-sized Tundra pick-up is a little long in the tooth now, the second-generation model having been on sale in North America as far back as 2006. It’s had a number of revisions since, but the company is known to be working on a new one for a while now, and this latest news adds more fuel to the rumour fire.

A member of the Rivian Owners Forum– who is also a Toyota pick-up fan– managed to dig up an entry in the United States Patent and Trademark Office for I-Force Max. This recalls the I-Force moniker used for the 2UZ-FE 4.7 litre V8 in the original Tundra, so it stands to reason that the trademark– which is to be used for “automobiles and structural parts thereof”– would be paired to the new model’s engine.

The exact details of that engine remains to be seen. Reports suggest that the next Tundra will receive the same hybrid setup as the Lexus LS/LC 500h, consisting of a 294 hp/348 Nm 3.5 litre V6, an electric motor and a four-speed transmission that works with the motor to simulate the feel of a 10-speed automatic. Total system output in these cars is 354 hp, although we do expect some changes to suit heavier duty applications.

We also shouldn’t rule out the possibility of a V8 option. The current Tundra uses a 3UR-FE 5.7 litre naturally-aspirated mill making 381 hp and 544 Nm of torque, so expect a new version to make slightly more. The 3UR-FE is shared with the Tundra’s SUV sibling the Sequoia, as well as the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX twins, and the next generation of these cars should also get the new engine.

The next Tundra is set to utilise elements of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), so while it will still be built on a ladder-frame chassis, it should be lighter than before. It is also expected to receive an air suspension setup, something test prototypes are probably trying to hide.

Release Date, Still No Diesel

The company made it clear– forget about Tundra Diesel. Tacoma is still possible, especially with its rivals bringing these units to the US soil. It is not going to happen to 2024 Toyota Tundra. The question is– how will it affect further sales? Well, if the new “I-Force Max” engine is a hybrid, then Toyota is going to make a stunning move. No other company is on this market. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Japanese giant sets up the challenge to the US truckmakers.

The release date of the new 2024 Toyota Tundra is not set. We expect it to see one of the biggest auto shows in 2024. Definitely, the next-gen Tundra will be one of the most interesting models in the market, even without the fresh powertrain. It’s been a while since fans saw the last update and the truckmaker is now ready to be competitive again.
