2024 BMW X5 Redesign, Hybrid, Reviews, and Price

2024 BMW X5 Redesign, Hybrid, Reviews, and Price. The new flagship SUV arrived last year. The base 2024 BMW X5 will be mostly unchanged. The Bavarian carmaker is launching two very important updates for the next season. The first one is an upgrade of the xDrive45e hybrid system. It is possible that we will see the iX5 all-electric SUV based on the iNext concept. The other change fans can’t wait to see is the premiere of the new M package with the most advanced features ever.

With these two upgrades, the new 2024 BMW X5 will be one of the best mid-size premium SUVs you can find. With different engines options, additional packages of equipment, and even electric drivetrain, there are no too many other models that can keep up with this vehicle. The BMW continues to pay a lot of attention to its flagship SUV, although the company recently released the full-size X7.

Plug-In Hybrid xDrive45e and iX5 All-Electric SUV

Under the bonnet of the xDrive45e PHEV model will be a 3.0-l V6 engine paired to the electric unit. This combo is good for 395 hp and 445 pound-feet of torque. The electric motor is capable to run without petrol drivetrain and you are getting a range of 50 miles. It is quite impressive for an SUV of X5’s size. At the same time, you can achieve a top speed of 87 mph (combined 146 mph). The towing capacity of the plug-in hybrid model is 6,000 pounds. Compared to its predecessor, xDrive45e boosts everything.

The real deal we expect from a BMW iX5 model. Recently, the company presented the iNext concept. This platform will underpin the future all-electric SUVs. Of course, the X5 is a flagship model and the nameplate we can’t wait to see totally electrified. Output numbers are still unknown, but the Bavarian company will aim high. During the premiere of the iNext concept, we could hear details about 300 miles of range, climbing up to 400 miles with upper trim levels. The new EV will be a competitor to Tesla’s Model X and Model Y, as well as the upcoming electric SUV by Ford.

2024 BMW X5 Specs

The standard version of the 2024 BMW X5 will use a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The turbocharged unit is producing 335 hp and 330 pound-feet of torque. The Bavarian carmaker is deploying its famous xDrive all-wheel drive system. With power being distributed to all corners, the X5 will return 20/26 mpg in the city or on the highway. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. Air suspension is a great upgrade for multiple benefits.

If you are looking for the more power, the X5 also offers a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This one makes 455 hp and 480 lb-ft of twist. Again, there are the same gearbox and AWD system. This model is available as xDrive50i and its towing capacity is 7,200 pounds. On the other hand, extra capabilities are increasing fuel consumption to barely 19 mpg.

2024 BMW X5 M

The new 2024 BMW X5M will use the same 4.4-liter engine, but the setup makes it a much more powerful unit. After the revisit, engineers will make this V8 split more than 600 horsepower. It will be enough to drop the 0-60 mph acceleration time under 4 seconds. The CLAR platform is lighter and it helps X5M achieve such numbers. Of course, there is also a new M Steptronic transmission, but the xDrive stays put.

The engine upgrade, the 2024 BMW X5M will also bring many changes in and out. Outside, everything is more aggressive, with sportier bumper and larger air intakes. Headlamps for the M package are new, while the SUV keeps the kidney grille size as for the standard model. Compared to the previous M edition, it is new. Fenders, rear end, and side skirts are also new. Interior of the vehicle brings sporty seats with extra legroom. A pair of 12.3-inch screens are definitely the highlight of the cockpit. One is there for the instrument cluster and other is a center of the infotainment system. New graphics, Alcantara leather, four-zone climate control, and many other items will maximize the overall comfort on the M model.

2024 BMW X5 Prices

With so many options the price of the 2024 BMW X5 will vary from $62,000 to $110,000. The base model is using a V6 engine and it costs the least. If you upgrade it with xDrive50i and V8 package, the price jumps to $77,000. The PHEV variant is using a smaller displacement, but the most advanced technologies available. Its MSRP for the next season will be over $72,000. The most expensive unit in the lineup is X5M with the price that exceeds $105,000. This time, it can even start around $110,000. The electric model is a mystery at the moment. Do not expect it too much cheaper than the M model. It could cost more actually, especially if the electric drivetrain is going to be capable to return more than 400 miles from a single charge.
