2021 Chevy Tahoe Redesign, Rumors, Changes, and Price. The fourth generation one of Chevrolet’s largest SUVs is about to end after just five years. In 2019 the company is going to launch the next-gen crossover. No one knows clearly why exactly General Motors are doing that. One of the reasons is the new Silverado truck. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe could pick up some things from its sibling. Probably the most important one is a diesel engine.
The 2021 Chevy Tahoe redesign in the new generation will bring much more. The concept is the same, but the full-size SUV will gain few inches. The wheelbase will remain the same. A 2-door Tahoe is also possible, according to spy photos. These pictures are not allowing us to find out too many details. Fans would like to know more about 2021 Tahoe Z71 and Tahoe RST models. More details about these versions and the price we will know during next year.
2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Engines and Specs
The appearance of the 2021 Chevy Tahoe might suffer big changes. In the engine room, things are slower, but not slow. Changes are on the way, but the main source of power remains a 5.3-liter V-8 unit. It comes with 355 horses and 385 lb-ft of torque. By default, an eight-speed automatic transmission is sending energy to rear wheels. Optionally, buyers can opt for all-wheel drive. Customers can choose the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe with the bigger 6.2-liter engine. With such drivetrain, the SUV gains extra power and torque. 420 hp and 460 pound-feet is total output.
2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel
The major addition for the next-gen 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will be a diesel engine. As the new Silverado, the crossover will exploit the “Baby Duramax” engine. It is a smaller version of the big unit used for heavy-duty Chevy trucks. A 3.0-liter Duramax mill is a response to the Ford’s Powerstroke of the same displacement. It is unlikely that 2021 Chevy Tahoe Diesel will get a turbo version. Instead, the engine stays around 250 horses and 450 pound-feet of torque. As for the Silverado 1500, the new crossover will pair a 10-speed automatic gearbox with a diesel powertrain.
2021 Chevy Tahoe RST
Well, a beefed version of the Duramax engine is still possible. If the crossover gets a performance-oriented model than it is more likely that engineers are going to tune this unit, rather than petrol. We already saw it in 2018. The 2021 Chevy Tahoe RST will use turbodiesel instead of 6.2-liter V8 gasoline. With special tuning, the new SUV will be able to burst over 300 horses and 550 pound-feet of torque.
The engine tuning is not the only upgrade for the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe RST. The SUV also gets special color options, as well as the interior. Upholstery, dashboard, and seats are likely to be blacked out again.
2021 Chevy Tahoe Spy Photos Unveil Few Changes
Test mules are already on the streets. As always, camouflage is hiding most of the body and changes for the upcoming model. Luckily, experts and enthusiasts manage to find details that give clues about the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe. The vehicle seems to be longer and wider. By that, it will get closer to Chevrolet Suburban, whose body has 20-inches over its sibling. The ride is higher. We believe that 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is going to be lifted for not more than 1 inch.
Next-Gen 2021 Chevy Tahoe Changes– Independent Rear Suspension
The new 2021 Chevy Tahoe will share a platform with other GM’s full-size SUVs. A lot of similarities, as always, will be between it and 2021 Chevy Suburban. It is going to be almost the same as its GMC tween– Yukon. The same T1XX platform is used for premium Cadillac Escalade.
All these vehicles will have a lot of things in common for the next generation. One change is more important than others– the independent rear suspension. General Motors engineers are still working on this feature. Some of the crossovers were planned for 2019, but since IRS is not ready yet, vehicles are definitely facing a delay.
By adding an IRS system the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe will offer a lot better driving skills. Handling and turning are getting a big boost. This change was needed because Ford switched its big guns to independent rear suspension. To be more competitive with Ford Explorer and Lincoln Navigator, Tahoe and its siblings will take the same path.
2021 Chevy Tahoe 2-Door Concept
This is something we can hear lately. Since the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe enters the new generation, designers will look to enhance its appearance. A full-size crossover with two doors layout? That seems to be very strange. The move is making the 2021 Tahoe eye-catching. Some other features might improve functionality, especially if the rear end is going to be used as the cargo area. On the other hand, there are no confirmations for this concept, neither by the company nor the spy shots.
Z71 Returns for 2021 Tahoe
When we mention a Z71 version of Chevrolet to truckers, that means we speak of special trim version. The new level of performance and appearance is the first thing coming to our minds. For the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, this is just a package, a set of special equipment that will upgrade our ride. The crossover is getting skid plates and all-terrain plates. The new 2021 Tahoe will use IRS with Z71. Fog lamps and unique grille are final the cosmetic upgrades for the SUV.
2021 Chevy Tahoe Release Date
It is already announced that 2021 Chevy Tahoe will arrive in 2019. We could see the debut early next season, probably in Detroit. Without any major model coming at the same time, Tahoe is going to be a star of any car show, NAIAS, or later in Chicago and New York. Whatsoever, the release date is not happening so soon. The GM will wait for the last months of 2019 to launch the new full-size SUV in showrooms.
2021 Chevy Tahoe Price
The new generation is going to change many things on the crossover, including the price. We can’t expect a cheaper vehicle. Fans are still waiting for updates, hoping that Chevrolet is not going to raise the price significantly. Current Tahoe is available from $50,000 and ends up around $66k for high-end SUVs.
The new 2021 Chevy Tahoe will add at least $2,000 to the starting value. On the other hand, top of the line Tahoe RST and Z71 will go above $70,000.
